Curriculum

At Shining Kidz, we believe everything about your child is an original masterpiece and deserving of exceptional care and intentional learning. Our focus is on achieving outcomes that are specific to your child through play.

Our curriculum establishes the foundations for love, learning and life. The following underpins our learning program:

This is Australia’s Early Childhood Curriculum, and is a framework of principles and strands that support children to develop their capability in becoming confident learners. We use effective assessment and ongoing evaluation practices to inform an individual learning plan that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of each child.

Inspired by Confucianism and Dr Emmi Pikler, we focus on respectful and loving care practices along with daily rituals to nurture reciprocal relationships between children, families and Educators.

At Shining Kidz Early Learning, a wide range of opportunities and contexts are provided for our preschoolers to learn the five essential social and emotional learning skills: resilience, organisation, confidence, getting along and persistence.

By providing learning environments rich in cultural diversity, opportunities for immersion in languages and activities highlighting mutual understanding, we trust that children will naturally come to respect and value cultural diversity.

We believe that healthy eating habits need to be introduced during childhood. Wework with nutrition professionals to create vegetarian menus that are nutritious and delicious for children.

Nutrition

At Shining Kidz, we believe children should have a healthy relationship with food as soon as they start eating solids. We want children to understand that healthy food is real food that is simple, delicious, and nourishing to their bodies. That is why we provide high-quality plant-based vegetarian meals for children—all cooked on-site and prepared with love.

Pathways to School

The move from preschool to primary school is a milestone in your child’s life and the transition is so much smoother when they are well prepared for this step.

Each child must have the opportunity to grow and foster a love for lifelong learning and be prepared physically, emotionally, socially and cognitively for the changes that occur during this transition, through smooth Pathways to School.

Our Pathways to School program for your preschool child include the following focus areas:

Early literacy, numeracy and science

Our early literacy program brings literacy to life and supports the learning of phonemic awareness through rich, real-life, play-based learning which includes rhythm, rhyme, playful songs and story. Literacy Home promotes shared reading and is a great opportunity for children alongside their parents to grow a love for words and to become excited and curious about the wonderful world around them.

Your child will also be introduced to a range of scientific and mathematical concepts through discovery, play and experiments, to help them identify with real-life moments.

Enquiry-based learning and project work

Project work allows your preschooler to pose questions, solve problems, develop social skills through working with others, learn how to plan and increase their awareness of the world around them. You may see this communicated as the 4 Cs— creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking— all of which make up some of the crucial foundation skills in preparing children for school success.

Creative arts and digital technology integration

This is an ongoing inclusion with dance, music, drama and visual arts added to children’s learning experiences. Further, with digital technologies becoming ubiquitous in the primary school environment, we teach children to use these technologies as tools to extend their learning, and to be creators, rather than just passive consumers of digital content.

The school pathway connection

We see building pathways, connections, and relationships with local schools and communities to be critical to the success of positive transitions.
